LOVED ONES

This part of the site is for friends, family, and spouses of those military members mentioned in the first part to write about what it’s like (or used to be like) to have someone close to you in the military. Like the other parts of the site, I simply copy and paste the content onto the site, unless I’m told to keep something out.

My boyfriend is currently in the United States Air Force. It is hard being away from him for so long, but hearing his voice each night makes things seem a little easier. I have a great respect for all of those in our military. God Bless.

First of all, I would like to say, "THANK YOU" to you for starting a site likes this. I would like to express my support and tell you a little about "our family".

As a United States Navy Reserve wife, I cannot tell you all about the difficulties families face as they watch their loved one walk away in an airport and you know that it could be the last time you see them. As a military wife of almost 10 years and just finished "our second deployment", there is not a day that goes by that we waste. I know that my husband lives for his career in the Navy and as a Chief, he has a passion to protect our country and that is what makes me so strong. I am also our battalion's Ombudsman, which is like a liaison for the spouses, so it does require to be a strong person and play a very important role in the military too. I admire him for his courage and love of his country to make the sacrifices he does, not only for our family but for everyone. Our Children are so proud of their Dad, they tell everyone, Daddy's protecting our freedom and We are proud! Our children have the complete understanding what Dad does. There are no words to express how that feeling is when your Sailor is walking back through those airport doors and flags are waving in the air and your children are running as fast as their little legs can take them, just for "THAT HUG" to welcome him home. All I can say is that we are your true American Family! God Bless America!

Thank you~

I'M GONNA TAKE A SHOT AT THIS. AS A LOVED ONE. IT'S NOT EASY BY ANY MEANS TO BE A SOLDIERS FIANCE. YOU CONSTANTLY DEAL WITH THEM LEAVING AND WORRYING ABOUT THEM MORE THAN YOU COULD EVER IMAGINE! I LOVE MY FIANCE DOUGLAS QUEBODEAUX MORE THAN WORDS CAN SAY. HE PUTS HIS LIFE ON THE LINE EVERYDAY FOR PEOPLE HE HAS NEVER EVEN MET. BUT YET HE NEVER HESITATES TO DO IT! HE HAS DONE ONE TOUR IN IRAQ. COULD POSSIBLY GO BACK FOR ANOTHER. I LIVE EVERYDAY WITH HIM AS IF HE DEPLOYS TOMORROW. HE HAS BEEN WORKING FOR TASK FORCE GATOR IN NEW ORLEANS FOR THE LAST YEAR. HE LOVES SERVING HIS COUNTRY AND I'M SO PROUD OF HIM! HE IS DOING SO MUCH FOR THE PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY AND SOME PEOPLE AREN'T GRATEFUL AT ALL! IT TAKES A SPECIAL PERSON TO DO WHAT HE AND EVERY OTHER SOLDIER DOES. YOU CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE THE THINGS THESE MEN AND WOMEN HAVE SEEN AND DONE. I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO FATHOM IT! WHEN YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT NEXT TO THE PERSON YOU LOVE AND THEY ARE CONSTANTLY HAVING NIGHTMARES BECAUSE OF THE THINGS THEY HAVE SEEN AND YOU KNOW NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO YOU CAN'T STOP THEM! TO SEE SOMEONE YOU LOVE GO THROUGH THAT AND KNOW THEY DID IT FOR ALL OF US AND YOUR HELPLESS! THEY HELP US KEEP OUR FREEDOM AND A LOT OF OTHER THINGS AND I CAN'T SIMPLY TAKE AWAY THE NIGHTMARES, THE HORROR, AND THE PAIN! THEY NEVER COME BACK THE SAME! THEY ARE STILL THE SAME PERSON YOU HAVE ALWAYS LOVED BUT NOT QUITE THE SAME! I AM PROUD TO BE A SOLDIERS FIANCE!!! I LOVE MY COUNTRY AND MY MAN!!

The closes I have ever been to the military is JROTC when I was in high school. However, my family (niece and nephews) have endured the years of serving in the United States Army and the United States Navy. A few of them have been overseas, and have encountered dangerous territory. One story my nephew sent to me, really shook me, he told me he was sitting not 10 feet from a helmet that had been hit by a stray bullet. To think, our family members are over there risking their lives for us and to come home to only have a difficult time to find a job when they decide not re-enlist. What kind of thanks is that? My prayers go out to all family members who are still overseas serving their country diligently.
